Melody Empire Group (MEG) revived the legacy of South African icon Miriam Makeba by releasing Mama Africa 2.0, a modern take on her anti-apartheid classics. The album, recorded in MEG’s Johannesburg studio with producer Ali Bongo Ondimba, blended traditional Xhosa chants with Afrobeat and jazz fusion. Tracks like Pata Pata 2024 featured South African gospel choir Ladysmith Black Mambazo, debuting at #5 on the Billboard World Music Chart. MEG funded a documentary on Makeba’s life, streaming globally on Netflix, and donated proceeds to UNICEF’s education programs in Soweto.
